EpV Application Process

We are working towards launching an EpV grants program within the next few years. There are no funds available for church starts at this time. We are consulting with diocesan bishops and the national church to get EpV grants funded and launched. An application form will be developed that is short (3-6 pages) clear and 'non burdensome,' with the aim of awarding seed funding grants to Episcopal Church affiliated emerging plants and fresh expression ministry starts. A simple, proposed budget attachment listing funding sources and amount of funds requested, intended use of funds and duration of the request will be required with the application form.

Criteria for grant eligibility will include having:

  • A clear and creative vision for an emerging mission start up, with the aim of 'gathering people into intentional, sacramental community and accompany them on a journey towards Christian faith and discipleship, rooted in the Baptismal Covenant, or inviting and accompany seekers into an established Episcopal church community that will do the same.
  • A vision for community and mission that is firmly rooted in the Anglican ethos and consistent with the doctrine, discipline and worship of the Episcopal Church and the canons of the local diocese.
  • A start up sequence with goals, objective and outcomes with a plan for sustainability or expected 'shelf life.'
  • Defined, indigenous and accountable leadership of the intiative.
  • Accountability to the diocesan bishop (or canon staff assigned by the bishop) and cooperation from any local parish incumbent (when an existing parish is involved).
  • Having the diocese or an established parish designated as the fiscal agent for the initial start up of 1-3 years.
  • Genuine financial need and listing the amounts and sources of other funding obtained.
  • A written letter of support from the diocesan bishop.
  • A generative and generous spirit (being willing to share experiences and learnings with others who aspire to start up other emerging mission projects in the future.
